My Research Interests

My research interests are in the field of bio-optics and biological oceanography. Specifically, I use hyperspectral measurements of the waters inherent and apparent optical properties to characterize water masses and their underwater light field. Further, I work on using these measurements to discriminate phytoplankton groups based on their optical characteristics.

My Objectives in CoastCarb

Study the effect of glacial melt on water transparency and color with implications for underwater light availability. Learning about latest techniques for bio-optical phytoplankton discrimination.
