“Antartic Science: Crossroads for a New Hope”

by Lucía Bergagna from Centro Austral de Investigaciones Científicas (CADIC – CONICET)

The conference took place in Pucón, Chile. Although getting to Pucón can be challenging due to the lack of an airport, once you arrive, it becomes clear why this location was chosen. Pucón is a small town nestled beside a beautiful lake, surrounded by the towering Andes mountains, with an active volcano that is one of its main attractions.

The conference explored a wide range of topics under the theme ‘Crossroads for a New Hope.’

The program featured a diverse array of topics, ranging from psychology to geology, and covering both past events and future perspectives. These were presented through various formats, including plenary lectures, interactive workshops, short talks, and poster sessions.

For me, the SCAR meeting is a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas with colleagues, plan collaborations, and learn from others in the field.
