The IO PAN is the largest marine-oriented research institute in Poland to seek, understand, communicate the scientific understanding of the marine environment and the issues related to its protection and sustainable use. IO PAN is involved in high-level scientific and technological research that further enhances our understanding of the Baltic Sea and European Arctic marine environment, and provides expertise and new technologies (e.g., LOPC, ROV). IO PAN is a partner of many domestic (i.g. GeoPlanet), and international networks and consortiums (e.g., EMB, EuroGOOS, SCOR) dealing with exploration of the marine environment.
